often without attribution. Individuals can subscribe

in 1851 by Paul Julius Reuter as the first news wire service.
He used the new telegraph cable under the Channel between Dover
and Calais to send stock market information between London and
Paris (so replacing pigeons). Computerised international stock
market service introduced in 1964.
