London Life: 1940s
This page shows, in date order, London Life magazine front covers from 1940. This year saw the start of the Blitz on London. On December 29, for example, more than 10,000 incendiary bombs were dropped on the capital. A prime target for the fire bombs was the paper-filled publishers’ warehouses and printing works around Fleet St - where London Life was produced in Wine Office Court - and close to St Paul’s Cathedral.
