Yachting and boating magazines
The international nature of the marine industry, especially
at the luxury powerboat and superyacht end, drives publishers of yachting magazines and boating
magazines to seek to spread overheads and sell advertising internationally.
The biggest yacht and boating magazine publishers in the UK
are the Boat International Group, which specialises in the high-end of
the industry, and Future, since 2020 when it took control of TI Media (formerly Time Inc UK / IPC Media), which has yachting and boating magazines
covering the whole range of the activity. In 2010, Time Inc held a review of its specialist titles and sold several of them, including
Classic Boat Future now controls:
Motor Boat & Yachting; Practical Boat Owner; Yachting Monthly; Yachting World; and
YBW. The Chelsea Magazine Company publishes four boating titles:
Classic Boat, Cruise International, Sailing Today and
Yachts & Yachting.
Apart from the Royal Yachting Association title RYA Magazine, the best-selling UK titles shift 30-35,000 copies a month. Magazines may also cover jet skis, personal watercraft (PW or PWC) and rigid inflatable boats (RIBs).
Many of these titles are available as digital magazines.
Monthly waterfront newspaper distributed at 750 marinas, chandleries, sailing clubs and brokers. There is also an online edition and All At Sea Extra, with boats for sale. Readership estimated at 120,000. Published by All at Sea Ltd (had been a CSL Publishing title).

Boats That Rock
Boats That Rock is an annual worldwide special issue of How to Spend It magazine, a luxury lifestyle supplement from the Financial Times on Saturdays. The first issue appeared in June 2006, timed for the start of the America’s Cup. Gillian de Bono, editor of How to Spend It, said at the time: 'Boats That Rock is a unique edition in the How to Spend It series. Sailing is a passion for many of our readers and this edition will explore how to enjoy the boating culture in the most luxurious and glamorous way.'
